Pregnancy Update - 27 weeks

Yes, I am pregnant with #2. I sometimes forget because I have a little monkey that occupies all my time. This pregnancy has been different than the first. I have been less worried about things and preoccupied with Geddy, so it's really going fast and it doesn't consume all my thoughts like the first pregnancy did. I even gave all my pregnancy books to the DI!

I had my 27 week appointment on Tuesday, and I thought that everyone would like to know that yes I am huge, and you can tell me that I am huge (many people have already asked me if I am bigger with this one than the first) and it will only slightly hurt my ego. I am measuring at 30 weeks and our little/BIG girl is in the 95th percentile, so as the Doctor candidly said, "she's on the bigger side." I am hoping this means that we can expect a little one closer to the first of April! I was 2 weeks early with Geddy and was already starting to dilate around 33 weeks. I am thinking this one might follow the same pattern?!?!?

It's great being pregnant and feeling her moving like a wild women inside of me, but it sometimes literally takes my breath away. I feel like I am short of breath often, she must already be crammed in there. I am wondering how my stomach and all of my organs fit next to her!

Tackling Resolution #2

We took the plunge this week and took off the front rail of Geddy's crib to make it into a "toddler bed." The first night was good. We had to put him in his bed about 15 times, and it took over an hour for him to fall asleep, but he slept through the whole night. After the first night we decided to put the child proof door knob on his side of the room, so he can't get out. I am slightly worried people will judge us for this, but in his case it doesn't bother him, so I don't think it's child abuse (ha ha). He doesn't bang and scream at the door, so we think it's fair game! Naps have been a bit more tricky. The first day I laid in his room on the floor to get him to go to sleep, and today he just played in his room for an hour before I decided to let him out. He still needs a nap!!! He's so grouchy by the time 6 o'clock rolls around, doesn't he understand this?!?! :) He's only going to be in this bed for short time then we are planning on letting him sleep on the futon bed or maybe a twin bed. Do kids just learn not to roll out of the bed? I have been putting pillows on the floor beneath his toddler bed. Tonight, I didn't put any pillows on the floor and he rolled out and hit the floor with an awfully loud thud! I put the pillows back needless to say. Ah, the joys of being 2 and being a mom of a 2 yr old. No really, there are many joys, but I just can't believe how many changes these kids are suppose to go through between the ages of 2 and 3!!! Sheesh!

Teach Them Young

Every day Geddy is learning new things. I am so amazed at how easily he learns a new word and retains new information. A few nights ago we had family night. We made a poster that read "I am a child of God," and glued each of our pictures on it and hung it on the fridge. Then last night at dinner Geddy looked over from his chair and proceeded to say "Geddy child God," "Mommy child God," "Daddy child God." I was in awe how this little two year old could remember a 5 minute activity that we had done a few nights before. It's precious to see his spirit blooming and blossoming. I can only hope and pray that as he develops and gets older he will find as much joy in Christ and His plan of happiness as we do!

Happy 30th Budley!

The most special Husband, Father, Brother, Son and Best Friend celebrated the big 3-0 on January 14! He described his ideal 30th birthday to me: A quiet night at home with me and Geddy, food, and a movie. So, natuarally I gave him the exact opposite! I threw him a surprise party, although true to form he knew what was coming as I apparently gave it away through 50 different things. Gosh! I am so bad at surprises. What he didn't know was who the party guests were, so I still had one surprise on him! I invited some of his siblings, their spouses, and his Mom to show up on our doorstep at 6 pm and surprise him. It was a fun evening with lots of laughter, good Thai food, fun, and even some tears (me, while I was saying the prayer on dinner! ha ha). The siblings shared some memories of Brennan. Brennan is the youngest of 7, so naturally all the siblilngs have memories of their "baby brother."

Ashley remembers Budley was called twinkle toes (walking on his tippy toes)
and stink bug (bending over and sticking bum in the air) - both of which Geddy does!!!

Shea remembers when Brennan was brought home from the hospital as a baby.
He says its one of his earliest memories. Wow!! He called Shea, "say."

Siri (on the left) recalls that Brennan was a thumb sucker and a blanky lover. After Brennan was too old to still carry a blanket around but refused to give up his beloved, Mom had to cut a little off the blanket each day until all that was left was a little 2" x 2" square! Siri also remembers that Brennan had a tail of hair he wouldn't get cut, but finally agreed to do so . . . for .25 cents. I wonder if I could entice him to cut his current long hair for .25 cents??? Hmmm....

Brother-in-law, Darren and Mom Marcia. What a cute picture, if do say so myself!

Shea and Siri, "twinners."

The Thai Feast. (Thank you to my friend, Praew, who made the Som Tum.)

Our little man who was excited all day for his Daddy's Birthday.
He likes to say very vibrantly "Happy TO YOU."

2 new church shirts. Who Hoo! What every man wants, right!?!?

Kinect Sports.

Geddy, the wild man.
