I try to be a good mother and wife. I try to cook delicious homemade meals. I try to have family home evening every Monday night. I try to say thoughtful prayers. I try to read my scriptures on a regular basis. I try to listen at church and feel the spirit. I try to workout 3 times per week and limit my sweet and fat intake. I try to go to bed at 11 pm. I try to make the sabbath day different. I try to attend the temple.
These are just some of my goals that I am never fully mastering but always constantly tackling. I don't want to get down on myself for not accomplishing all my goals and being twinkled in an instant; but I am sometimes discouraged that I can't do all these things 100% of the time. I find myself focusing on one thing and then leaving the rest to straggle behind, sometimes forgotten. I find myself getting sidetrack with new goals and quests, then it hits me "oh, shoot I forgot to have family home evening, or I forgot to read something spiritual today." Or "Oh crap I just ate 3 brownies and 4 cookies today!" I know I am only human; but I really dislike that phrase! I feel like I should be able to accomplish all my goals all of the time - maybe that's why I am so high strung.

Reaching New Heights
Geddy is literally "reaching new heights." I went to get the mail a few days ago and this is what I found when I opened the door. This was the first time he pulled himself up on something sooo high...and he was mighty proud of himself!

The only problem with this newfound skill is that he's constantly falling down and crying. Oh well...a boy's got to learn right???

Indian!
Let's see . . . I am going to try and post about something other than the focus of my universe. :)
A few nights ago I made a true Indian dish for the first time, Chicken Biryani - what was I waiting all this time for? My favorite food of all time is Indian and my favorite restaurant is Royal India in Bountiful! I had to actually buy spices I did not and have never had in my cupboard...tumeric, cardamom. Holy cow I didn't realize cardamom was the second most expensive spice on the store shelf next to saffron! 13 bucks a bottle; which was really hard for me to swallow, but I didn't want to leave it out! When I cracked the lid to that baby I could see why, the aroma is purely intoxicating!!! I was in Heaven smelling Indian in my kitchen all night and for several more days every time I heated up the leftovers.
(This isn't a picture of my biryani, but it looked somewhat similar)

Happy 9 Months!

Geddy turned 9 months old yesterday! My oh my, he's just getting cuter and more fun by the second! He now says Mama and Papa (mostly Mama :), can crawl, but prefers to "army crawl," and is getting into everything he can get his hands on!!! He's not the best eater; he's picky about the style of food (not huge on pureed baby food and most pureed veggies and meat). He prefers to feed himself and then he will eat most anything (even veggies), and he especially likes what mama and papa are eating! He does really love yogurt, apples, carrots, and cheerios! At his 9 month well visit he weighed 18 lbs (15 %)and was 27.5 in. long (24%).

This USA outfit is a symbol for me. We purchased it during the 2002 Olympic Games, thinking at the time that we would be blessed with children in the next few years. Little did we know that we would wait almost 7 years for our special little guy. When I look at this outfit I reflect on the many years of longing, heartache and hope. I think my little Geddy is a miracle and a day doesn't go by when I don't seriously reflect on the great blessing it is to have him in my life. Years ago, when I was struggling with infertility I couldn't imagine the day when I would have a child to call my own. Now, I am tremendously blessed to call this perfect little one my own. And he's just the most special thing ever! We love you buddy!

Snowbird 2009
We enjoyed our annual Snowbird trip this year. We got to spend time with Aunt Ashley, Nana, and the Shea Smoot Family.
All ready to go swimming (Geddy's first time in a swimming pool!)
Geddy and Will love their Nana.
Me and my beautiful Aunt Ashley! She's so much fun!
Nana and Ashley doing what they do best....shopping!

Momma and her forever "baby boy."
Just the girls!
Geddy loved Nana's new puppet "Big Red." And his new puppet, "Mr. Turtle."
Our happy boy on the car ride home!
